Executive Offices and Human Resources

The Riverside Superior Court's Executive Offices and Human Resources Department are located in the Historic Courthouse.

Parking

Parking is metered on the city streets and handicapped spaces are not designated, but individuals with vehicles displaying a handicapped placard or license plate may park in any space, free of charge. 

Street metered parking in downtown Riverside on Main Street currently costs 25 cents per 10 minutes, up to four hours max at a time.

Courtroom Attire

We suggest you wear comfortable clothing that comports with the importance and dignity of the courtroom. Shorts, tank tops, bare midriffs, hats, sunglasses, or similar dress is not permitted. Business attire is always appropriate. You may not use computers, cellular phones, cameras, or tape recorders in the courtroom. Each judicial officer has the discretion to disallow these items in the courtroom even if they are shut off.


Americans with Disabilities Act - Accommodations (ADA)

Building Accommodations:

The Main Street entry is not wheelchair accessible. Wheelchair ramps and entries are located on Tenth Street (north entrance) and Eleventh Street (south entry).

All individuals seeking entrance to the facility must pass through security screening which includes a metal detector. Individuals with pacemakers or cochlear implants may request screening via a hand held wand from security screening personnel.

Public restrooms on the first floor are wheelchair accessible; however, restroom entrances are not equipped with handicapped door activation buttons. A public restroom on the second floor adjacent to Department 10 is wheelchair accessible; however, the entrance is not equipped with a handicapped door activation button.

A wheelchair accessible drinking fountain is located on the first floor near the women’s restroom.

Smoke detectors and fire alarm systems are equipped with strobe lights.

Elevator cabs are equipped with Braille signage and emergency call features to accommodate those with seeing and hearing impairment.

Courtroom Accommodations:

The Historic Courthouse is a 1903 Beaux Arts classical revival style building on the Riverside County Historical Commission’s list of historic landmarks. From 1994 to 1998, the building underwent restoration, structural stabilization, and redesign, resulting in wheelchair accessibility to all 10 courtrooms. Handicapped door activation buttons are located on courtroom doors for Departments 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7. Wheelchair lifts are located in the stairwells between Departments 3 and 4, and Departments 5 and 6, providing access to 2nd floor jury deliberation rooms.

Assistive listening devices are available for hearing-disabled individuals.  Individuals anticipating the need to use hearing assisted devices are requested to notify the ADA Coordinator’s Office by completing Judicial Council Form MC 410 and submitting the form to the Court's Human Resource Department as far in advance of the court date as possible and in any event no less than five (5) court days prior to the hearing.

If a printed transcript of a court hearing is required, please make arrangements to purchase one from the court reporter.

Individuals in need of sign language interpreters may request assistance through the Court's Human Resource Department.  Individuals may request Computer Assisted Real-Time Transcription or CART assistance through the ADA Coordinator’s Office by submitting Judicial Council Form MC 410 to the ADA Coordinator in as far advance of the court date as possible and in any event no less than five (5) court days prior to the hearing. Generally, sign language interpreters and CART reporters are provided to facilitate a hearing disabled individual's participation in court proceedings, but they may be permitted to accompany an individual at other times to facilitate communication in court matters.

Clerk's Office Accommodations:

The Clerk’s Office has designated one customer service window for disabled customers. The window has a lowered, wheelchair accessible counter. Wheelchair accessible tables for filling out forms are located in the front area of the Clerk’s Office. A speech-generating device (NEO Text2Speech) is available upon request at any customer service window. Magnification devices are also available upon request to facilitate reading smaller print on court forms.
