Failure to Appear for Jury Service

General Information on Failure to Appear for Jury Service

In the event you were not able to appear on your scheduled summons date for jury service, you will need to contact our office via email or by phone in order to avoid receiving a Failure to Appear notice that can result in a fine, imprisonment or both, pursuant to C.C.P. 209.

Information On What To Do If You Have Received A Failure To Appear Notice

Please contact the Jury Services Division to reschedule your service date. Contact us as soon as possible to avoid receiving an Order to Show Cause notice for failure to attend jury duty with a mandatory court hearing date that cannot be changed. Failure to respond to the Order to Show Cause notice can result in a fine, imprisonment or both pursuant to C.C.P 209.

Information On What To Do If You Have Received An Order To Show Cause Notice For Failure To Attend Jury Service or for Contempt

You must appear on the designated date and time given on the Order to Show Cause notice. This date cannot be changed and will require your personal appearance. Failure to appear on this day can result in a fine, imprisonment or both pursuant to C.C.P. 209.
