Riverside Superior Court Announces Civil Filing Location Adjustments
The Riverside Superior Court will adjust the filing locations for certain civil case types originating from several communities in western Riverside County, effective August 1, 2026.
The adjustments are intended to more evenly distribute civil filings among court locations while considering the distance residents must travel to access courthouse services.
The Court reviewed civil filing data from July through December 2025 to identify workload imbalances among court locations. The revised filing assignments are expected to create a more balanced distribution of cases and support the efficient use of judicial and operational resources.
Under the new filing structure:
- Unlimited civil cases originating from Lake Elsinore, Hemet, Winchester, Homeland, Wildomar, and Murrieta will be filed at the Historic Courthouse in Riverside.
- Limited civil cases, small claims cases, and unlawful detainer cases originating from Lake Elsinore and Wildomar will be filed at the Corona Courthouse.
- Small claims and unlawful detainer cases previously filed at the Banning Justice Center will be filed at the Moreno Valley Courthouse.
Updated filing information, courthouse addresses, and public access resources will be available on the Court’s website at www.riverside.courts.ca.gov.
Individuals are encouraged to confirm the appropriate filing location before submitting documents or traveling to a courthouse.
